New Harmony Apple Festival

new-harmony-utah-apple-festivalThe New Harmony Apple Festival will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the New Harmony town park from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

FREE! That’s right no admission fee!

There will be food trucks, homemade crafts and goods, apple pie eating contest, live music, raffles, prizes, bake sale and apples.

The Apple Festival is an annual fundraiser for our 100% volunteer fire department and 100% of the profits go to purchase life saving equipment and supplies. This will be our 18th year. Last year we we’re able to raise about $3,500 and had about 3,000 in attendance through out the day. There will be live music all day, bounce houses, mechanical bull riding, fire safety demonstrations, local vendors, food trucks, and of course the famous New Harmony Apples!!!!

The Harmony Valley Fire District provides fire protection and emergency first responders to the greater New Harmony Valley of southern Utah. The area covered is approximately 51 square miles and includes the town ofNew Harmony itself, along with a 8 mile stretch of Interstate 15. The fire department provides both structural fire protection and wild land fire suppression capabilities to the 1700 residents in the valley. With numerous vehicle accidents occurring each year on I-15 and valley surface streets, the department’s capability of responding to motor vehicle accidents and providing life saving extrication fills a vital role. The training and equipment to carry out these operations is vital to the safety of both the residents and those transiting through our beautiful valley.

Cedar City Toys for Tots 5K

toys-for-tots-5k-run-cedar-cityThe Toys for Tots 5K will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Veteran’s Memorial Park (200 N 200 E) at 9:00 am.

This event is put together for the Cedar City community so that we can have a fun opportunity to rally together in an effort to help raise funds for our local Iron County Toys for Tots.  What better way to lend a hand at helping a less fortunate child than to participate in a 5k?

Toys for Tots is an official US Marine Corps Mission, and by delivering a new toy at Christmas a less fortunate child will have a chance to experience joy, happiness, and hope. This message of hope will assist them into becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens, and that they are not forgotten at this upcoming holiday season.

100% of the proceeds from this 5k are donated to our local Toys for Tots.

Course: Race will start near the Cedar City Veterans Park. Runners will loop Coal Creek Trail running up and back down the canyon.

Race Entry Fee:  $25.00

Awards ceremony will take place near the finish line, as soon as race results are tallied.

Your race entry includes a race t-shirt, post-race fruit and goodies, and prize giveaways (must be present to win)
